Often, it's exciting to see the ways in which my research into the ancient world dovetails with our modern lives. In this case, however, things are a bit more disheartening. Why is it that the male body is still viewed as "the norm" when it comes to medical trials?
As I point out in the article linked below, ancient medical authorities like Galen saw the female body as anomalous or even malformed. Sadly, this sentiment still rings true today.
